What is Tavern-Style Pizza?

Tavern-style pizza is a lost culinary art form that dates back to the 1930s and 40s, when pubs in cities like New York and Chicago would serve personal bar pies. Over the years, the concept of tavern-style pizza largely disappeared, but in 2011, Riko’s perfected the recipe and took it to the next level with a fresh approach.

Our tavern-style pizzas are 13 inches, cut into 6 slices, and made on an ultra-thin-crust with the freshest ingredients and proprietary cooking methods. Loved by everyone, these pies are absolutely delicious!

Our Kitchens & Cooking Philosophy

Growing up in Connecticut—the undisputed pizza capital of the world—we had the privilege of experiencing what actual GOOD pizza tastes like, and almost 13 years ago when we first opened our doors, the goal was to create our own recipes and menu that build on that tradition of pizza quality in the Nutmeg State, then—ultimately—save the rest of America from the weak pizza imitations that they’ve been forced to accept.

All our recipes—from our pies, salads, and wings to our extensive selection of drinks—are created in-house using proprietary formulas, equipment, and techniques. We use only the freshest, highest quality ingredients, with several items—including our sauces, cheese blends, and dressings—being Riko’s own culinary creations.
